Starting pitcher: Riley
This morning's game got off to a quick start in the 1st inning when San Jose lead-off the inning with a triple to RF, followed by a grounder to SS in which the run would score on a fielder's choice. This would be the only run San Jose would see the whole game. Fullerton answered back with a run, after Taylor's double to CF, followed by Nina's single to right field, which would score Taylor from 2B.
The 2nd inning was quiet for San Jose and Fullerton shut them down with stellar defense. The offense continued for Fullerton in the bottom of the 2nd inning with Alex's single and Riley's double on an overthrow to 1B, advancing Alex to 3B. Hayley would be put in to run for Riley. This put Fullerton in the position to score when Sydney laid a bunt down the 1B line, which scored another run for Fullerton.
Both teams stayed quiet offensively through the 3rd and 4th innings until the bottom of the 5th when Fullerton went on an offensive tear, scoring 3 runs. Alex lead off the bottom of the 5th inning with a single, followed by Hayley who continued the rally with a bunt down the 1B line. Savi lays down sacrifice bunt which advances the runners to 2B and 3B. Taylor comes through with a base-clearing double. Nina follows with a single to RF, which scores Taylor from 2B.
San Jose was shut down by outstanding pitching and defense in the top of the 6th inning whereas Fullerton scores 2 more runs on a single to right field by Savi.
San Jose was then shut down in the top of the 7th inning to end the game, resulting in Fullerton's victory: 7-1. After the game, as tradition stands, both teams exchanged gift bags with each other.
Offensive Highlights:
Alex 3-3, 1 RBI
Taylor 2-3, 3 RBIS
Afterwards, the girls came back to the hotel and got ready to go to Sacramento to check out Old Town and the Capitol. This was followed by a fun-filled dinner at Joe's Crab Shack, where the girls (and the siblings) danced to 'Carwash'.
